Sandra brought so much to her short life and touched so many with her artistic talent, her beauty and her bravery. When I think of Alexandra I think of hair like spun gold, bright colours, tropical flowers, a quick wit and a kind heart, a wicked sense of humour, the maker of a mean cocktail and a fabulous and memorable dirty laugh!
Sandra, I’ve known you since my son Seb brought you and your mother Charlotte into my life. On the brink of adulthood you were the bright light in the room; vibrant, talented and stunningly beautiful, always prepared to live life to the fullest even when it was at its most difficult and challenging. What I didn’t know then was just how brave you would turn out to be.
There are many memories I treasure, but the most recent illuminates that bravery and refusal to give in: it is of you, your mother and I laughing, singing and dancing around my kitchen the very same night you came out of hospital after yet another procedure to mitigate the symptoms of that most cruel and unforgiving disease.
So the pain is over Sandra and I know that wherever you are, your light is shining bright and you’re making the most of it. As you always have!
We’ll all miss you.
